Blackthorne Groupe LLC designs its applications around local processing and data minimization. Blackthorne Groupe LLC does not operate an advertising, behavioral analytics, user-profiling, browsing-history, network-traffic, speech-recording, transcription-storage, or translation-storage service for the Apps.

Information generated or maintained by the Apps generally remains on the user's device unless the user deliberately sends, exports, shares, or directs that information elsewhere, or unless an operating-system service is required to perform a feature selected by the user.

Literal Translate prioritizes on-device speech recognition. For certain languages, devices, or operating-system configurations, however, Literal Translate may use Apple's network-based speech-recognition service. When that occurs, live microphone audio, spoken content, and limited speech recognition context may be transmitted to and processed by Apple. Blackthorne Groupe LLC does not receive that audio or operate the servers performing that recognition.

1. Scope

This Privacy Policy describes the privacy practices of Blackthorne Groupe LLC in connection with the following applications and their associated extensions and features:

These applications, extensions, and associated functionality are referred to collectively in this Policy as the "Apps."

This Policy applies to information processed by the Apps and to information voluntarily provided directly to Blackthorne Groupe LLC.

This Policy does not govern the independent practices of Apple, websites, search engines, internet service providers, DNS providers, VPN or proxy providers, communications services, cloud-storage providers, or other third-party services selected or used by the user.

2. Blackthorne Groupe's General Data Practices

The Apps are designed so that Blackthorne Groupe LLC does not need to maintain a centralized database of users' private App activity.

Except for information that a user voluntarily provides directly to Blackthorne Groupe LLC, the Apps do not transmit to a Blackthorne-operated server:

3. Local Processing

A central design principle of the Apps is to perform sensitive analysis and recordkeeping locally whenever reasonably possible.

Depending on the App, this may include network analysis, traffic inspection, browser data management, speech processing, translation, speaker identification, transcript formatting, contextual processing, and local file creation.

Local processing does not mean that all internet communications remain on the device. Features that inherently communicate with another service, such as opening a website, resolving a domain name, downloading a language model, or using Apple's network-backed speech recognition, require communication with the applicable external service.

4. Blank Network Monitor

Blank Network Monitor may observe, analyze, and display network-related information available to the device. Depending on the platform, operating system, permissions, and selected features, this information may include:

This monitoring and analysis is performed for the user's benefit on the user's device. Blank Network Monitor does not upload monitored network activity to Blackthorne Groupe LLC.

If the user saves or exports monitoring information, the resulting file is stored or shared according to the destination selected by the user.

5. Blank Network Proxy

Blank Network Proxy provides local proxy, diagnostic, capture, and inspection functionality.

When a user directs network traffic through Blank Network Proxy, the App processes that traffic as necessary to provide the requested proxy or inspection functionality and forwards applicable communications toward their intended network destinations.

Blackthorne Groupe LLC does not operate a remote proxy relay through which Blank Network Proxy sends the user's inspected traffic, and Blackthorne Groupe LLC does not receive or retain that proxied traffic.

5.1 HTTPS Inspection

Blank Network Proxy may provide optional HTTPS inspection functionality. When this functionality is available and enabled:

HTTPS traffic can contain passwords, authentication tokens, private communications, financial information, health information, and other sensitive material. Users should inspect only devices, applications, accounts, systems, and communications they own or are authorized to inspect.

6. Blank Browser

Blank Browser connects to websites and internet services selected by the user. Blackthorne Groupe LLC does not receive or maintain a server-side record of the user's browsing activity.

6.1 Communications with Websites

Accessing a website inherently requires communication with that website and supporting internet infrastructure.

Depending on the website, network configuration, and information submitted by the user, a destination service may receive information such as:

Such information is transmitted to the destination or supporting service because the user requested that communication. Blackthorne Groupe LLC does not receive a copy merely because Blank Browser was used to initiate the connection.

6.2 Search Providers

If a user performs a search through a configured search provider, the search query and technical information required to perform that search are transmitted to the selected search provider.

The search provider's privacy policy governs its handling of that information. Blackthorne Groupe LLC does not maintain a server-side copy of the user's search queries.

7. Literal Translate

Literal Translate provides live speech transcription, speech translation, transcription-only functionality, speaker identification, transcript management, and related language-processing features.

Literal Translate is designed to prioritize Apple's on-device speech and language technologies whenever compatible resources are available.

7.1 Microphone Access

Literal Translate requires microphone access when the user starts a feature that listens to live speech.

Microphone audio is processed for purposes such as:

Literal Translate does not intentionally save the live microphone stream as a conventional raw audio recording.

Blackthorne Groupe LLC does not receive or store the user's microphone audio on Blackthorne-operated servers.

7.2 On-Device Speech Recognition

Literal Translate prioritizes Apple's on-device speech-recognition technologies, including compatible SpeechAnalyzer, SpeechTranscriber, and DictationTranscriber resources.

When a compatible on-device speech-recognition resource is available and used, microphone audio and speech recognition are processed locally on the device.

7.3 Apple Network-Based Speech Recognition

Important: Not every language, device, or operating-system configuration necessarily provides a compatible on-device speech-recognition resource.

When an appropriate on-device recognition path is unavailable, Literal Translate may fall back to Apple's SFSpeechRecognizer technology without requiring recognition to remain on-device.

In that situation, information may be transmitted to and processed by Apple to perform speech recognition. Depending on the recognition request, this may include:

Apple, rather than Blackthorne Groupe LLC, operates this speech-recognition infrastructure.

Blackthorne Groupe LLC does not receive a copy of the microphone audio sent to Apple through Apple's speech-recognition service.

The current version of Literal Translate does not intentionally transmit live microphone audio to Google, Microsoft, an independent Blackthorne speech server, or another non-Apple speech-recognition provider.

Apple's handling of information submitted to Apple services is governed by Apple's applicable privacy terms and policies.

7.4 Speech Recognition Permission

Literal Translate uses operating-system permission mechanisms for microphone and speech-recognition access.

Users may deny or later modify these permissions through the operating system. Denying microphone or speech-recognition access may prevent or limit features that depend on those permissions.

7.5 Translation

Literal Translate uses Apple's Translation framework and TranslationSession functionality for text translation.

Translation is performed using Apple-provided machine-learning models on the user's device. The transcription text submitted for translation and the translated text produced from it are not intentionally sent by Literal Translate to an external translation provider.

Blackthorne Groupe LLC does not operate a translation server and does not receive the transcription or translated text through the translation process.

Internet access may be required to obtain Apple-provided language resources before on-device translation can be performed.

7.6 Language Models and Downloads

Literal Translate may request, manage, or use language resources supplied through Apple's operating-system frameworks.
